"TrustE" Hill - Candidate Biography
Trustee Hill has proven that her unwavering loyalty and alumni experience to be a committed partner in moving CAU forward, would serve her well as a Trustee. She has built a reputation for partnering with CAU leadership and alumni to advance our alma mater and has earned the credibility to continue representing alumni as a Trustee, while helping to improve alumni support, giving percentage, and engagement. As a staunch alumni advocate, she is intentional about alumni representation that leads to stronger bonds with the Institution and enhanced governance skills of alumni association leadership.
Trustee Hill is a courageous voice who confidently articulates the needs and priorities of the CAU alumni community. By developing impactful and transformative programs, Trustee Hill’s accomplishments in the CAU alumni community have set standards to effectively educate, encourage, and reclaim alumni. Because of her ingenuity, influence, creative outreach, and trendsetting marketing strategies, Trustee Hill is often sought-after by fellow alumni to assist with fundraising and program development efforts. Prior to her current role on the Board of CAUAA, Alumna Hill served as President of the Atlanta Chapter (2015-2019), where she leveraged her business acumen, relationships with alumni in every decade, and grassroots approach to engagement, to exponentially exceed goals while improving Chapter contributions to the University, scholarships given, individual contributions, revenue streams, brand presence, and financial assets. Trustee Hill presents to our Board of Trustees with the recurring theme that “Alumni Concerns Are CAU Opportunities.” Some of her accomplishments and advocacy as Trustee include:
Collaborated with Institutional Advancement to pass resolution that created a policy exception to minimums required for endowments. Helps increase alumni endowments and increase giving percentage.
Made introduction for a Campus Safety Donation by an alumnus, that resulted in installation and integration of prototype security system. The value of the gift is at least $250K. Supports the “Technology & Infrastructure” pillar of current Capital Campaign.
Engaged President of CAU to advocate with group of alumni concerned about CAU Athletics.
Proposed creation of Ad Hoc Committee for CAUAA to enhance operational integrity and improve chapter development. Approved by Board. Trustee Hill also serves as Chair of this Committee.
Shared concerns to advocate on behalf of Alumni that resulted in Commencement return to Stadium. Advocacy continues for Commencement/May Weekend activities to return to schedule of last 51 years.
Trustee Hill has been the CEO of her company, Innovative Benefits Consultants, for 13 years. She became an entrepreneur after over 25 years of progressive experience within public and private sectors. Her background includes management, operations, banking, and insurance. Her employers have included IBM, Georgia-Pacific, MARTA, Dow Chemical and First Union Bank. Today, as “The Benefits Lady,” Ms. Hill offers senior benefits, and she educates clients on pioneering ways to use life insurance as a living benefit. She has 22 years of experience in financial services, with corporate and entrepreneurial careers that have exposed her to all levels of business.
Trustee Hill is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.® (initiated Alpha Pi Chapter). Additional community service affiliations are: Black Methodists for Church Renewal (BMCR), NAACP, former mentor with Big Brothers Big Sisters, and former representative for her Alumni Chapter to the Atlanta HBCU Alumni Alliance. Trustee Hill earned a BA in Business Education (1983), and as a Trustee, serves on the Board’s Institutional Advancement and Student Affairs Standing Committees. She is a past National Membership Chair of CAUAA and held several officer roles at the local chapter level. She is a member of the Atlanta Chapter and currently serves nationally on the Constitution, Fundraising, Membership, and Homecoming Committees of CAUAA. She enjoys sports, all things HBCUs, playing fantasy football, cooking, and her new grandson.
